A kick-ass woman in tech, Jay Galvan Heneghan, will share the story of the Software as a Service (SaaS) company she co-founded, EMR-Bear. EMR-Bear’s technology has been revolutionizing the management of behavioral health care services with its Web-based electronic health record, practice management, and medical transportation and billing capabilities, and it was born out of pure need. You see, after discovering that none of the solutions on the market fit all of the needs of her husband, Dr. Jim Heneghan (a trained adult and child psychiatrist who provides services to underserved, rural communities throughout the state of NM through the use of telemedicine), they decided to create a solution of their own with the help of the company's CTO and co-founder, Andres Paglayan.
These days EMR-Bear is utilized by just under 50 healthcare agencies nationwide, with the largest concentration of client agencies in NM, AZ, TX, and ID. They have 6 full-time employees and call upon a cadre of contractors to fill in the blanks. You can hear a little of what Jay has to say through this video interview as part of NM TechWork’s NM Career Profiles project.
In April we’ll gather at the AGAVE Restaurant & Lounge, located downtown in the beautiful Eldorado Hotel. I discovered the AGAVE Lounge soon after moving here through an article on the best happy hours in SF and it’s (repeatedly) earned my stamp of approval. I also like knowing that the property’s owned by Heritage Hotels & Resorts, a New Mexico-based, minority-owned cultural hospitality company that’s been investing exclusively in NM over the last several years.
And thanks to Jay, you’ll have a chance to win a copy of Start with Story: The Entrepreneur's Guide to Using Story to Grow Your Business, a book by Las Cruces native and founder of Storytelling for Entrepreneurs, Lyn Graft.
