Entrepreneur Story Time: Revolution Bakery

  • Zoom (link below) (map)

Dionne Christian 👩🏽‍🍳 eats, sleeps and breathes bakery, and we’re thrilled that she’s making the time to share her story with Revolution Bakery with us in March. Dionne is no stranger to owning and running a business and navigating tough times. She opened the Teahouse on Canyon Road in 2003, which she sold in 2011 before opening the first evolution of Revolution Bakery in 2012, which she closed 4 years later in 2016 due to health issues. When Santa Fe went into shut-down mode last March, her new and improved Revolution Bakery was only up and running at its new home in the Design Center for less than a year and she knew she had to figure out how to make things work or else she was gonna lose her butt (her words).

But make things work, she has. Despite a broken arm and new metal elbow (a parting gift from 2020), Dionne and her one employee continue to crank out carefully curated, organic, gluten-free breads and sweets, many of them vegan and made with her own gluten-free flour combinations. And while much has changed since the Santa Fe Reporter celebrated Dionne’s return in August 2019 with Viva la Revolution: Santa Fe’s favorite gluten-free bakery returns, the Design Center location remains the hub for all the business’s baking magic.

While the Design Center offers indoor walk-in space, for now Dionne’s keeping it safe by making use of the handy-dandy drive-through window at the back of the building. Each week she posts a list of gluten-free breads 🍞 and pastries on Facebook and Instagram where you can DM your order. Better yet, go to her website to sign up for the weekly newsletter, this way you’ll never miss the line up of what bread 🥖 and other treats (a rotating menu that includes cakes,🍰 croissants,🥐 muffins, pies,🥧 cinnamon rolls, scones, cookies🍪 and more) are available for you to pick up on Fridays from 10-1pm from the drive-through window at 418 Cerrillos Road (just remember to place your order by Wednesday at noon either via DM or email).

And spread the word to your ABQ friends, cause while the build out of Dionne’s ABQ location is on pause til her arm heals, folks can still order pre-packed bags that include two loaves of bread, two muffins and two scones ready for pick-up every Saturday from 9-12pm at 616 Lomas Blvd NW. I don’t know about you, but I’m now craving croissants🥐 and can’t wait to learn more of Dionne’s👩🏽‍🍳 story with Revolution Bakery. See you there!
