Entrepreneur Story Time: Atalaya Outfitters

  • CHOMP 505 Cerrillos Road Santa Fe, NM 87501 (map)

Let’s give it up for, Kristin Pulatie, who opened the retail location of Atalaya Outfitters mere weeks ago in a quaint little adobe building off Guadalupe on 142 Daniel Street (sort of behind Dolina Cafe). You may have already met Kristin, as she’d been testing her concept online and popping up at pop ups around town for a while now, selling and collecting a variety of outdoor gear and clothing she’s set her sights on upcycling.

It turns out that offering this fine community the opportunity to buy quality outdoor gear at reasonable prices and sell gently used gear on consignment is pretty popular. Not only did a whole bunch of folks vote to rank Atalaya Outfitters as one of the Santa Fe Reporter’s best new businesses in 2022, but Kristin’s collection of gear got so big that it became time to get it out of her garage and open a physical space so folks can see, touch and feel what they’re buying.

What I also love about what Kristin’s doing is that she’s collaborating and partnering with other aligned or likeminded business to help support and raise each other up – businesses like local outdoor product producers and Rerouted, which is an online-only version of gear upcycling run by one of my other favorite NM outdoor enthusiast entrepreneurs, Chap Grubb. Cheers to community collaborations!

I’m psyched to hear more about Kristin’s business, the partnerships and opportunities she’s creating and what we can do to support Kristin when she shares her story with us during Global Entrepreneurship Week #GEW2022 on Nov. 17th.

And while we’ve gathered at Santa’s Fe’s fabulous food hall before, we’re circling back to CHOMP to revisit the amazing assortment of wine and cocktails at Bottega del Vino, the wide variety of organic Italian imports, bath and body products and Artisan made jewelry by the Artisan's Bottega and Black & Silver Gallery owner, Mary Beth Bartlett, and the mouthwatering creations award-winning Chef Nath churns out.

But that’s not all! As we also get to check out the new vendors who’ve made their home at CHOMP since we last visited, including wood fired pizza and more by chef Peter O'Brien at Pedro’s Pizza, Alex’s Mediterranean Deli and, if we’re lucky, celebrity chef Paddy Rawal's new spot, Zaika, will be open again by the time we meet.

So, arrive between 6:30 and 7 PM to grab a drink, order some delicious food and get to schmoozing before we settle down for Story Time at 7 PM. Can’t wait!
